Yoga Burn Near Death Experience

I am trying to get into Yoga. My friend Mary insists it will cure all your ills. I am having trouble with a calf - perhaps a shin splint, perhaps a stress fracture. Mary says yoga will fix it. I was complaining about my knee ... Mary thought that could be fixed by stretching my hip flexors. She showed me how to stretch them in church. We have quite a laid-back church that way - another time the music director showed me a back-strengthening exercise that looked like the cobra stance - in the main aisle of the church. That said, we don't really do yoga DURING the service. But afterwards is fair play. Ron is having trouble that his new physiotherapist thinks is his hip. Mary thinks his pelvis might be frozen & yoga would loosen that up.

So I brought home a DVD from the library called "Yoga Burn" by Rodney Yee. I like his teaching style but the exercises nearly killed me - very advanced. Last night I tried yoga on the ball for beginners. It was good - though the burn scars from when I was burned at age 9 do not stretch so it felt kind of like my muscles wanted to stretch but my scar tissue wouldn't co-operate. Today I got a "Yoga for dummies". I give you a sun salutation, a down facing dog, a cobra and a warrior stance. As they say "Namaste" or something like that.
