It must be explained that I have really dry skin. So dry in fact that when I have a shower my face - instead of breaking out in zits - breaks out in dry skin. I once made the mistake of trying to use a pumice stone to get some of my post shower dry skin off. It hurt, and once I realized that it wasn't doing me any good I looked in the mirror and became resigned to the fact that I now looked like a pig. But that was a while ago. The point is that I have very dry skin - especially on my face and my legs. I hardly get any zits because of it. Chlorine is one of the things that most dries my skin out.
So last week I decided that instead of doing swimming lessons I was going to try and do lane swimming. Today was the first day I was to do it. So I put my bathing suit on, got my stuff together, and then reached into mom's wallet for some money. I pulled out a five dollar bill - folded in half - and walked to the pool. When I got there I gave the lady the bill, and she gave me my change. I was just about to go into the change room when the lady called to me "You wouldn't happen to have the other half of your five dollar bill on you would you?" So I turned around, searched in my pocket where the bill was and came to the realization that I had thought I had 1 five dollar bill folded in half but in reality only had half a five dollar bill. So I rooted through my bag, and realized that I had left my wallet in there. So I used my change and it was all good. I went into the change room, got ready and went out into the pool. Now the pool near our house is NOT very deep. At its deepest point it is about 6 ft deep. My dad's head barely manages to clear the deepest spot in the pool, and even so that's not very deep. So when I went to the deep end there were a bunch of (ahem) not very fit looking people sitting against the wall of the pool and talking. Not really wanting to join them I proceed to swim 20 laps (500 metres). The other swimmers seemed to have a pattern where they would swim 2 laps, rest for a while, and then swim 2 more laps. It was quite interesting. I just swam, and when I was done I got out of the pool and went and had a shower. By the time I got out of the change room I was feeling a little bit sore, but not very.
After that I went to the library. My skin was getting that pinched feeling you get when your skin is very dry. It wasn't so bad though. I got a lot of work done. I was leaving when I passed a friend of ours who just happens to be a librarian. We exchanged greetings and then she said "You have something between your eyes that looks like a piece of styrofoam." It turned out to be a HUGE piece of dry skin. I had already decided I wasn't going to do the pool thing anymore. I was sore, but not as sore as when I exercise at home for free. And when I exercise at home I don't end up with a styrofoam face.
Also Happy Blog Anniversary Platinum Blonde!!!! I wish you many more years of joyous blogging to come;)
